HISTORY OF AMERICAN TRIBAL STYLE
American Tribal Style belly dance (ATS) is a unique and different style of Belly dance with very strict definitions. It was founded by Carolena Nerriccio in 1987. The basic concept is that ATS is a structure. Dancers gather to dance an improvised performance which is made up by a shared vocabulary of moves. It has a lead and follow format. Dancers move together in synchronization and this is made possible by cues that are given by the lead dancer to let the others follow. This creates a special and powerful energy between the dancers as they gather to celebrate their femininity and connect with each other whilst enjoying this hypnotic dance style together.
American Tribal Style adopts a particular posture, movements, costuming style and certain characteristics that can be easily recognised by other tribal dancers anywhere.
TRIBAL FUSION BELLY
DANCE
BY THE URBAN ROSES
As
a well recognised and leading dance troupe founded in 2002 the Eastern
Roses are very excited to now
offer Tribal Fusion performances
in which they
appear as the ‘Urban Roses’. Sitara
has received training from Akasha (daughters of Lilith) and the Roses
went along to a day of intense training with Lily from Tribal Kineses (see
pic). She also
continues to study the Fat Chance Belly Dance series by Carolena Nerriccio.
The troupe is made up of the four passionate, talented and dedicated dancers who will stun audiences everywhere with the synchronization precision and sensuality displayed in their Tribal Fusion performances. When dancing as the Urban Roses the girls create a very beautiful and powerful stage presence, and a hypnotic and mysterious mood. The costuming is in complete contrast to cabaret as the girls are adorned with antique kuchi coins and jewellery, cowrie shells and very natural fibres and items rather than the sequined costuming and glamour of cabaret.
The girls normally perform for 25 minutes and are available afterwards to talk with your guests. Please contact Sitara for prices for your event and further information.
